System requirements and installation

TKS is available either as a sourcecode distribution licensed under terms of the GNU General Public License- or as a precompiled binary-package.

The sources can be compiled under Win32, Linux, Cygwin (tested) as well as other Un*x compatible operating systems (Solaris, Irix, FreeBSD, ...). (read: should compile :) the makefile.msvc and makefile.linux configurations are tested on a regular basis, though)

Binaries are currently available for Win32 here.

Linux users should compile the sources; I prepared an install_linux.sh shell script which downloads, compiles and installs tks and the sdl/opengl/freetype2/eqxmms plugins. Just issue

[root@wizball tkscript]# . install_linux.sh install

The source has been tested on both big and little endian systems (x86, m68k and ppc/g3). There are some compile time switches in the file config.h (from the tks-source distribution):

Also see "Downloads".
